The Central Library of Jorhat Kendriya Mahavidyalaya was established in the year 1981 with the very inception of the college itself to support its parent organization in carrying out its teaching learning programme effectively. Its main objective is to procure, organize, preserve, disseminate information in all fields of knowledge to serve the institutional, curricular, research, recreational needs of the college community.

The Library has at present more then 20000 printed books and subscription to 16 periodicals and 7 newspapers. The library is a member of e-ShodhSindhu consortium which provides access to 6000+ e-journals, 1,99,500+ e-books under NLIST and 6,00,000+ e-books through NDLI. It has its own repository of PhD Thesis, MPhil Dissertations, Minor and Major Research Project Reports, publications of the college, publications of the faculties, college magazines etc.

The Library has a reading room with 50+ seating capacity. There is a separate reading room for the faculty members and also a library conference hall. The library is an automated one since 2015 with the leading software SOUL2.0 provided by INFLIBNET Centre. The library management software gives a user friendly interface for delivering timely services to the users under client-server environment. At present the house keeping operations like cataloguing, circulation, barcoding, member log in, access to library catalogue through OPAC etc. have been done by using SOUL2.0 ILMS.
